Grilled Hot Dogs “Dog Days” are the days when the constellation Canis Major (Large Dog) rises just before or at the same time as sunrise. The brightest star in this constellation is Sirius (a.k.a. “Dog Star"). According to The Old Farmer's Almanac, the “Dog Days” are the 40 days beginning July 3 and ending August 11.

Recipe: Cheddar Bacon Beer Dogs
1 packet Cheddar Beer Dip Mix
1 package of hot dogs
10 slices of raw bacon
Bad Byron's Butt Rub (as needed)
1 package of hot dog buns

~ Prepare Cheddar Beer Dip Mix as directed on package for a spread. Refrigerate until needed.
~ Starting at one end of a hot dog, spiral a slice of bacon around the dog, down to the other end. Secure bacon with a toothpick, if desired. Repeat with remaining hot dogs and bacon.
~ Sprinkle each wrapped hot dog with Butt rub.
~ Cook hot dogs on a grill with a low flame until bacon is crisp.
~ Microwave Cheddar Beer Spread for 60 seconds; stir; continue heating at 30 second intervals until warmed throughout.
~ Place each hot dog in a bun, spoon warmed Cheddar Beer Spread over the dogs, and sprinkle lightly with Butt Rub as a garnish.


Recipe: Southern BBQ Dogs
1 packet Sweet 'N Tangy Cole Slaw Mix
1 package of hot dogs
1 package of hot dog buns
Barbecue Sauce (as needed)
1/2 cup crushed potato chips

~ Prepare Sweet 'N Tangy Cole Slaw Mix as directed on package. Refrigerate until needed.
~ Cook hot dogs on a grill with a medium flame as desired.
~ Place a hot dog in each bun.
~ Spread a spoonful of cole slaw evenly down each hot dog.
~ Drizzle a line of barbecue sauce over the cole slaw on each hot dog.
~ Sprinkle crushed potato chips over each hot dog.


Recipe: Sweet N Sassy Chili Cheese Dogs
1 lb. ground beef OR ground turkey OR ground chicken
4 oz. can tomato paste
1/2 cup milk
2 Tbls. Hott Damn Chili Fixins
1 packet Smoked Cheddar Jalapeno Dip Mix
1 package of hot dogs
1 package of hot dog buns
Bread & Butter Jalapeno Dip Mix (as needed)
Woeber’s Sweet & Spicy Mustard (as needed)

~ In a skillet over medium-high, brown ground beef, breaking it up as it cooks. Drain off fat and return to low heat.
~ In a bowl, whisk together tomato paste, milk, Chili Fixins, and Smoked Cheddar Jalapeno Dip Mix until smooth.
~ Stir the chili mixture into the skillet of browned meat. Simmer over low heat for 20 minutes, stirring often. Remove from heat and set aside until needed.
~ Cook hot dogs on a grill with a medium flame as desired.
~ Place a hot dog in each bun.
~ Spoon a bit of chili mixture evenly down each hot dog.
~ Spoon a line of the Bread & Butter Jalapeno Dip Mix down each hot dog, and then drizzle a line of mustard down each dog.
